Dr Kanishka Muruththettuwegama graduated from University of Colombo in Sri Lanka and subsequently obtained the fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in Australia. He is an accomplished exuberant Adult Psychiatrist with almost 22 years of experience in Psychiatry.
He has worked as a Psychiatrist in Australia for 15 years and been in private practice since 2015. Dr Murut has been involved in supervising junior Psychiatrists and teaching medical students and post graduate trainees at Latrobe Regional Hospital. He made a sound contribution to public mental health service development and successfully operated as a senior consultant psychiatrist in the environment of both, metro and country Victoria. He was also an external examiner of the school of Psychology and Psychiatry Monash University, Churchill. He is particularly interested in working with General Practitioners in primary care settings, supporting his colleagues in general practice, in high-standard care for patients with broad range of mental health needs.
Dr Murut’s main area of interests is Adult ADHD and co-morbidities. He also carries a sound expertise in diagnosing and treating anxiety disorders, depression, bi-polar disorders, and organic and functional psychotic disorders in late adolescent and adult groups.
