About
Helen is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and dual Registered counsellor with ACA and has over 25 years of experience. Helen specialises in working with children, adolescents, and adults with eating disorders (including Anorexia
Nervosa; Bulimia Nervosa; Binge Eating Disorder; Avoidant Restrictive Eating Disorders (ARFID) & Atypical Anorexia Nervosa (ANN); disordered eating, and body image issues.
Helen is extremely passionate about working with parents and providing counselling to assist them in working through and helping navigate the complexities of living with a young person with an eating disorder.
Helen has recently worked with young people and their families in the Paediatric Mental Health unit at the Austin Hospital, Eating Disorders Victoria; St Vincent’s Health, BETRS day program and have worked privately for many years.
As a registered counsellor, Helen also provides therapy for individuals with anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, school refusal, and relationship issues as well as provide family therapy and counselling.
Helen specialises in working with children and adolescents with ASD and ADHD, feeding issues, ARFID, inadequate growth and development and provide in-session food challenges, meal support and motivational counselling. Helen has previously worked at Latrobe University in various roles, which include coordinating the undergraduate nutrition course; teaching and tutoring in the nutrition and dietetics program as well have taught both primary and secondary school students.
Helen’s counselling style is warm and gentle – Helen likes to work closely with the whole family to provide a safe and supportive space.
