About
Raised in country NSW and now settled in Sydney, Dr Joel Killey brings a breadth of clinical experience to his practice. Before joining the ADHD-BED integrated clinic, Dr Killey practiced in regional New South Wales, remote Western Australia and treated severe mental illness as Director of an intensive psychiatric inpatient unit in Sydney.
Dr Killey’s qualifications include undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Agriculture, postgraduate studies in Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia and most recently a Master’s Degree in Health Administration at Monash University. Dr Killey combined his expertise in agriculture and psychiatry to undertake research in horticultural therapy which won him the Connell Werry Prize from the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2018. In addition to his busy public and private practices Killey has an appointment to the RANZCP Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry New South Wales Committee.
In clinical practice, Dr Killey embraces a whole-of-family approach and has interest areas of ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, First Episode Psychosis, horticultural therapy, rural and regional psychiatry and the intersection of neurodiversity and mental illness.
