About

Dr Ravi Kumar Tankala is a general paediatrician and enjoys working with children from birth to adolescence. He provides a broad range of paediatric services that can affect children’s health, welfare, behaviour, and learning. These include: developmental issues such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning difficulties, complex medical issues and neurological disorders including cerebral palsy and epilepsy asthma, allergies, and respiratory disorders neonatology (newborns) nuclear medicine (paediatrics).

He believes that children are not just small adults, and they present with unique medical needs and treatment is different to each specific child. He has three years neonatology experience and loves working with newborns. Dr Tankala is incredibly passionate about paediatrics and child health. From childhood, he had kindness and compassion to help people, so that inspired him to become a doctor. Dr Tankala completed a Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) in India and after that he moved to Australia to pursue his career. Since then, he has completed a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) at Sydney University, Member of Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), and a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP). Dr Tankala worked in tertiary hospitals in separate roles, including as a Registrar at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, Price Charles Hospital, Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital and Townsville University Hospital.

Dr Tankala also acquired skills, training and experience working in the UK both in Neonates and Paediatrics through a Specialist Training pathway from the prestigious West Midlands Deanery, Birmingham Network, prior to coming back home to Australia two years ago. As a father, he is good at understanding how parents think and feel, and he knows how to connect with the children he sees. He genuinely does care about them. He understands how important childhood is as he was away from his parents due to his studies. He speaks four languages: English, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. When he is away from work, he enjoys travel and exploring the world and spending quality time with his son.
