Ruwangi is a consultant psychiatrist with over 19 years of experience in clinical psychiatry. She has extensive experience in working both in private and public sector. She has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in several public hospitals including Mercy Health, Northwestern Mental Health, Northern Health and South West Health Service. Ruwangi has worked as the authorised psychiatrist for South West Health Service. She holds a strong academic interest and recently held a post of a Senior Lecture for Medical School of Deakin University. She completed a dissertation in adult Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder in 2010. She has a strong interest in assessment, diagnosis and management of ADHD.

Her main areas of interest are attention deficit hyperactive disorder, anxiety and mood disorders, women’s’ mental health, eating disorders, youth mental health, trauma related mental health disorders and psychosis.

Ruwangi appreciates working closely with general practitioners and families of patients, in order to deliver comprehensive care. She believes in importance of providing appropriate combination of biological treatments (e.g. medications) and psychosocial interventions, to optimise patients treatment and recovery.
